Deezer and Sacem Set a Precedent in the Fight Against AI Fraud in the Music Industry

FinancialMediaGuide notes that in recent years, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music industry has sparked a revolution in content creation. However, this also threatens copyright laws and leads to new forms of fraud involving royalty payments. Streaming platforms such as Deezer face the issue of AI-generated tracks being uploaded that manipulate recommendation algorithms, resulting in unauthorized payouts. To combat this, Deezer and the French copyright protection agency Sacem have signed a strategic agreement aimed at implementing innovative technologies that can detect and block such fraudulent activities.

According to analysts at FinancialMediaGuide, the use of AI in music creation is steadily increasing, making it more challenging to fairly distribute royalty payments. In 2025, Deezer reported that its technology had detected and removed 85% of AI-generated tracks, which is equivalent to over 13.4 million songs. Currently, around 39% of all new tracks on the platform are AI-created, a significant increase from 10% the previous year.

We at FinancialMediaGuide note that Deezer’s AI music detection technology uses advanced algorithms to analyze audio signals and identify even the subtlest anomalies generated by AI creators. This system, trained on 94 million songs, can effectively distinguish real works from artificially generated ones. This is a key step in protecting music creators and restoring fairness in the distribution of royalties.

However, technological solutions are only part of the problem. We believe that to achieve full effectiveness in the fight against fraud, legal and regulatory measures must be implemented, such as mandatory licensing of AI-generated tracks and full disclosure of data on works used to train AI. We see that such initiatives will help prevent the use of copyrighted materials without permission from the rights holders, ensuring fair compensation for music authors.

FinancialMediaGuide predicts that by 2026, most major streaming platforms will adopt similar copyright protection technologies and actively collaborate with organizations dedicated to protecting authors’ rights. This technological fight against fraud in music will increase user trust and improve the mechanism for fair distribution of royalties. We forecast that such steps will strengthen the position of companies that can guarantee the security and fairness of the music streaming ecosystem in the future.

We at Financial Media Guide conclude that the successful implementation of copyright protection technologies in the music industry, including the fight against AI fraud, will not only be a significant achievement for streaming services but also an important step toward creating a fair music ecosystem in which music creators receive appropriate compensation for their works. For this to happen, there must be a collaboration between tech companies, regulators, and industry organizations protecting copyright.
